The Obama administration has given up on the idea of Congress ratifying the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, part of the president’s attempt to strengthen U.S. ties with Asian allies.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that only days after Donald Trump’s surprising victory in the presidential race, Republican congressional leaders have told the White House that they will not consider the sweeping pact during the rest of President Barack Obama’s term in office.
