Governor Ige appointed UPW member James Wataru to the Board of Trustees of the Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF). James is one of five employee representatives representing UPW’s 13,000+ members. Former Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA) President Jackie Ferguson-Miyamoto was also appointed as the retiree representative.
The EUTF provides medical, chiropractic, prescription drug, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits to all eligible State of Hawaii, City and County of Honolulu, County of Hawaii, County of Maui and County of Kauai employees and retirees. The EUTF covers approximately 68,000 active employees plus 60,000 of their dependents and 47,000 retirees plus 20,000 of their dependents.
Wataru and Ferguson-Miyamoto’s terms will expire on December 31, 2021 and December 31, 2023 respectively.
