The Hawai’i Workers Center (HWC) is showing its support for the Maui Health System (MHS) workers on Maui and Lanai who have been striking for fair and decent wages and better working conditions. The HWC urges the public to support the workers, highlighting the challenges that Hawaii workers face, including high inflation, low wages, and poor working conditions. The striking workers are seeking higher wages, more staffing, more employee participation in shift selection, and an end to involuntary overtime. The United Public Workers (UPW-AFSCME) represents about 500 striking workers who have been striking since Feb. 22.
