Please support your fellow Hawaii Island wastewater workers by urging our state lawmakers to defer Senate Bill 997 this legislative session. All you need to do is help us forward a letter of opposition to our members in the Hawaii Senate.

Senate Bill 997 allows counties across the state to enter private partnerships for wastewater treatment services. It was created specifically to address a Hawaii Island initiative to transfer wastewater services to a private entity, but the bill does apply to all counties.

This bill puts county wastewater jobs at stake and could also affect the quality and reliability of wastewater services. It also sets a dangerous precedent that could be applied to other county departments.
