In Community Outreach, Hawaii Division, Lifestyle, Malama Pono

We are so grateful to Donn Dela Cruz and IBEW Local 1186.  They installed smoke alarms throughout the Hawaii Division office and completely re-wired and upgraded our light fixtures while adding LED, power-saving lights throughout our entire building.   The apprentices recorded valuable work hours under the direct supervision of skilled journeymen, aiding in their efforts to become skilled journey workers one day.

This project was funded entirely through donations from local businesses and the support of IBEW Local 1190.  IBEW has utilized the Hawaii Division Office for many years to host IBEW 1186 membership meetings every quarter.  As a “thank you” to UPW, Donn organized this installation and wrote letters to local businesses requesting donations of materials on our behalf.  Prior estimates received to fix our lighting ranged from approximately $4,000.00 – $5,000.00.
